Mother’s Day Ideas

Nothing says I Love You to a mom quite like a handmade gift.  Mom’s don’t need expensive jewelry or shopping sprees (although we won’t say No to those either).

A simple, thoughtful handmade gift from our babies (even our big babies) is something a mom can hold onto forever and look back on many years down the road. As the mother of an energetic 4 year old, the thought of him sitting and taking time to make something special for me truly warms my heart.

The NGCC Mother’s Day Pinterest Board is full of great Mother’s Day crafts.  We have pinned lots of great homemade gifts from the heart to say I LOVE YOU to a mom or Grandma on their special day.

1 I Love Mom Because

This is a fun craft for older children to practice their writing skills while expressing to mom why she is so special.  Ask a younger child some reasons why they love mom and write the answers for them on their handprints as an easy adaption for a non-writer.

2 Handprint Canvas bag

We all know moms are in charge of 100 things at once! What a great way for mom to display a lovely gift while running errands. This canvas bag is prefect for returning books to the library; bring snacks to Saturday morning practices or running to grab a few items at the grocery store.

3 Grandma’s Handprint Flower Garden

This third project is an easy but heartfelt way to acknowledge a Grandmother this Mother’s Day.  This is a project that children of all ages could participate in and it is a Mother’s Day gift that would definitely melt Grandma’s heart.

Next Generation Children’s Center wishes every mom the happiest of Mother’s Day!

Enjoy the Day!
