Shannon Vessella
Co-Director
Shannon Vessella has been working in the Early Childhood Education field since 1991. She joined Next Generation in 1996, as a toddler teacher. In 1999, Shannon was promoted to Sudbury’s Toddler Program Manager. In 2002, Shannon was promoted to Sudbury’s Assistant Director. In 2004, Shannon was promoted to Director of Sudbury, overseeing the Infant and Toddler Programs. In 2008, Shannon helped open our Walpole school and is overseeing the Infant and Toddler Programs. She transferred to our Westborough location in 2011.
Shannon was working towards her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Curry College; however, she switched and is now working towards her Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education. She is EEC Director II certified. Shannon has 1 child who attends our Westborough school.
Jen Smith
Co-Director
Jen Smith has been working in the Early Childhood Education field since 1998, initially as preschool teacher. She joined Next Generation in 2004, as a toddler teacher in our Marlborough school, then as an infant teacher. In 2005, Jen was promoted to Toddler Program Manager. In 2007, she completed Next Generation’s Leadership Program. In 2008, Jen was promoted to Hopkinton’s Senior Program Manager, overseeing the Infant Program. In 2009, Jen was promoted to Director of Sudbury, overseeing the Infant and Toddler Programs. She transferred to Westborough in 2011.
Jen has her Associate’s Degree and she is working towards her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. She is EEC Director II certified. Jen has three children, one NGCC graduate and two others who attend our Westborough school.

Our slogan of “A Leader in Early Childhood Education” rings true to all who enter our beautiful center located on Route 9 in Westborough! Over-sized classrooms full of happy children and teachers engaged in fun, challenging curriculum can be found throughout the school. Infants and toddlers catching bubbles, preschool children counting blocks with Kindergarten children composing stories – everywhere in Westborough, education is always enjoyable.
Our dedicated team of Directors and certified teaching teams are committed to making each day special for the children in our care. Families are an important part of the Westborough Center. Art shows, school-wide events and monthly classroom invitations let parents know they are partners in their child’s education.
