What to

Bring

On your first day, please bring in:

  • Crib size sheet, a lightweight blanket
  • Two complete sets of clothing
  • In the warmer months, please bring sunscreen, non-aerosol insect repellent, bathing suit, bath-sized towel and sun hat
  • In the colder months, please bring in an extra hat, extra mittens, snow pants and boots

It is the goal of Next Generation Children’s Centers that at the end of their Kindergarten year, your child will be self-assured, independent and have a strong academic foundation for entering elementary school.

Our experienced state certified teachers create curriculum that is adapted to fit the needs of the spectrum of students in the classroom.  Teachers provide opportunities for one-to-one instruction and small group learning using structured activities.  There is also group activities, such as Morning Meeting, during the day, as well as free-choice time where children get to explore different learning areas of the classroom based on their interests.

Curriculum

Next Generation Children’s Centers Kindergarten Program uses The Land of the Letter People as our core curriculum. This wonderful language program builds on the concepts introduced in our Pre-K program Let’s Meet The Letter People. Our Kindergarten children continue to develop important literacy skills such as speech, letters, phonemic awareness, pre-reading, writing and listening. In addition, each Letter Person will work with each child on other important skills such as social, math, science and the arts. Next Generation Children’s Centers also uses Macmillan/McGraw-Hill Math for our math program component building on the foundation from the Pre-K lessons. Handwriting Without Tears™ is continued in Kindergarten by building on the handwriting basics started in our Pre-K program.
