What do the children do in a typical day?
For children in our Infant Program, their days are centered around their individual feeding and sleeping schedule. In our Toddler through Kindergarten rooms, while each program have their own developmentally appropriate activities within the classrooms, each child will have the following experiences during the school day:
- Two outdoor (weather permitting) or indoor play/ gross motor activity time.
- Early morning and late afternoon “open play” time with friends, choosing from different learning centers in the classroom.
- A variety of “Circle Time” group sessions during the day.
- Several “Small Group” activity times with teachers dividing the class between them to focus on curriculum activities.
- Meals include breakfast (arrival before 8:30 AM), morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack and late afternoon snack.
- Enrichment programs during the week including:
- Music Session – Our own Music Specialists visit with ALL of the children within the school weekly to expose children to a wide variety of music and musical instruments. This appreciation for music will assist children in their language and self-expression skills as well as an opportunity to move and play!
- Fun and Fit – Twice a week, Toddlers through Kindergarten will utilize our indoor gym spaces and equipment for age-appropriate fitness activities such as Yoga, aerobics and obstacle courses. The activities chosen for this program align with Massachusetts’ Curriculum Frameworks and The National Association for Sports and Physical Education (NASPE).
- Spanish – ¡Vamos! is our weekly Spanish program for our Pre-K and Kindergarten students. Our own Spanish instructors work in small groups with the students to introduce Spanish and the lessons align with our weekly curriculum themes.
